Thrillseekers 3: Best Live DJs

Although DJs may not bust out crazy choreographies like Justin Timberlake, or hit the high notes like Christina Aguilera, and they may not change outfits 11 times during a 3-hour stint, but anyone can tell you that watching a great DJ in his element will get under your skin and have you dancing the night away.

It also doesn’t hurt that most DJs are pretty sweet to look at, and these 3 particular DJs, which includes one duo, are musical masterminds when it comes to remixes and blending patterns.

And even if you’re unable to head to one of their concerts anytime soon, you should at least invest in their music.

Best live DJs #1
DJ Tiesto

The fact alone that he sold out a stadium that fills 25,000 should be indication enough that DJ Tiesto is doing something right at the turntables. Somewhat of a hero in his native Holland, Tiesto has traveled the world, from Italy and Russia to Scotland and Serbia, and is always picking up new and innovative ways to mix music. His remix of “Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan – Silence” was the first house music track to get regular airplay on the radio.

Best live DJs #2
Deep Dish
Grammy award winners, this duo of DJs - Ali 'Dubfire' Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi – hail from Washington DC, but have managed to become world famous in only a few years’ time. Their constant hard work and musical efforts have paid off, especially considering they have been called upon to remix music by everyone from Michael Jackson to Madonna. Their ability to seduce a crowd’s ear and hearts with their mixes is incomparable.

Best live DJs #3
Paul van Dyk

Hailing from East Germany, Paul van Dyk is one of the world’s most renowned DJs, and by the early ‘90s, he had already managed to make quite a name for himself, although his first album, 45 RPM, wasn’t released until 1998. Unhappy with the way record labels worked, Van Dyk opted to create his very own label, Vandit, which has garnered him even more success than he has ever imagined.

Thrillseekers' 3 - Bold Moves To Make This Week

By Taylor Cassar

Boldness is usually not a trait that women brag about, and some women even think of boldness as a negative character trait. But I’m here to tell you that when you’re old and grey, you will not regret the things you did do, but rather the things you didn’t do. So here’s your chance to stand out in a crowd and make sure that at least a select few people remember you for years to come.

Bold moves to make #1
Ask a guy out

Every woman has that one guy in her life that she’s either interested in or wonders about. Well, rather than continue to walk by coyly and hope that he eventually takes notice of your subtle flirty ways and makes a move, why don’t you throw caution to the wind and flirt with him before you ask him for his number? Not only will you be taking the pressure of his risking rejection away, you’ll also impress him with your bold and impulsive attitude.

Bold moves to make #2
Tell a friend the truth

Whether you have a friend who is in sheer denial or you’ve always wanted to reveal the truth about something to her, now is your chance to be open and honest about the way things really are. Of course, telling a friend that she’s lying to herself may not make you very popular, but I’ve learned that people can’t stay mad at the truth for very long. If you reveal your secret; however, your friend may need a while to recoup. In the end, it’s all worth it - you’ll lose 10 easy pounds of excess mental weight.

Bold moves to make #3
Ask for a promotion

You’ve been working hard and staying at work late, and just discovered that there’s a promotion up for grabs in your department. Well, working hard and hoping that someone will take notice is not the right way to go. It’s up to you to get noticed by voicing your strengths, accomplishments and qualities. The worst that can happen is that you don’t get it. The best - you do. It’s worth the risk.

Thrillseekers' 3 - World Cuisines

By Taylor Cassar

When it comes to eating, most women tend to take the safe route and stick with what they know, but what if someone who had the culinary knowledge of Jamie Oliver took you out to show you the beauty of world cuisine? Would you be willing to take the leap and try everything?

I’m a firm believer that you’re allowed to find certain foods undesirable, so as long as you try them first. And the following world cuisines will give your palate a party like it has never known. Make it a point to try these world cuisines this week.

World cuisines #1
Ethiopian
Consisting mainly of vegetables and meat side dishes, Ethiopian food is known for its spiciness and the fact that it is eaten with injera, an unleavened sourdough flatbread. Although it’s not usually good manners to eat with the hands, it is Ethiopian tradition to do so (with the right hand). Free of pork and offering up a variety of cuisines (wot, tibs, kitfo and breakfast foods), make sure to get a taste of everything when you head to an Ethipian restaurant. As for drinks, try the tej, a sweet honey wine.

What to try: Doro Wot (chicken curry stew)

World cuisines #2
Indian

Rich in spices and herbs, Indian cuisine has a pungent odor but is delectable and sophisticated when it comes to flavor. Staples of Indian food include rice, legumes and atta (whole wheat flour). North Indian cuisine uses a lot of dairy; South Indian cuisine leans more toward rice, and; Western Indian cuisine involves more of a fusion offering, including its staple dish, Chicken Tikka. As with Ethiopian food, eating with the right hand is part of the Indian dining tradition. Take it all down with some palm wine or Darjeeling tea.

What to try: Chicken Tikka Masala

World cuisines #3
Greek

With olive oil as its staple, Greek food is considered one of the healthiest. With a preference toward goat and sheep over cow, and plenty of grilled fish, Greek food offers up a whole lot more than the souvlaki you’ve heard about. Rich in salads, cheeses (feta is the most famous), and, of course, olive oil, Greek food is simple and easy to enjoy. As well, it isn’t usually difficult to decipher what’s on your plate since you’re familiar with most of the ingredients used. Before you leave, you have to try some Ouzo (anise flavored liquor) and, for dessert, the sweet honey and nut baklava.

What to try: Pikilia is an appetizer that offers up a bit of many Greek dishes including Tzatziki (a yogurt spread), Taramosalata (a fish roe spread), Dolmades (rice wrapped in grape leaves), and Tyropita (phyllo dough with cheese).

Thrillseekers' 3 - Things To Do Before You Die

By Taylor Cassar

While death itself isn’t exactly the hot topic of choice for most of us, we have to admit that life is way too short to sit around watching TV and eating Doritos. So it’s time you made yourself a checklist of things you want to accomplish before you die. After all, you’re young, beautiful and smart, and while you’ve still got it, why not get it? So here, now, are three of those many things you might want to add to your fantastic list.

Thing to do before you die #1
Visit A Nude Beach
In our teens, we feel somewhat insecure, in our twenties we finally begin to know our bodies and after that, we throw caution to the wind and accept ourselves for who we are and what we look like. So what better way to show the world how great you feel about your body than by strutting around a beach naked, with other fellow nudists? It’s safe and liberating, and it will make you feel like you can do anything without a care in the world afterwards.

Thing to do before you die #2
Go To Carnival In Rio

If you saw 1990’s Wild Orchid with Mickey Rourke and Carre Otis, you’d know that Brazil is a very erotic country; all the more so during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro every February. While some worry that it’s unsafe for women traveling alone, it would be great if you could gather up a bunch of friends and head down there together. The thought of putting on a mask and a crazy outfit, dancing like a madwoman, and being someone mysterious for five days just sounds so inviting.

Thing to do before you die #3
Climb Mount Everest
Climbing anything is quite a feat for most of us, so getting our butts in gear to take on one of the most challenging mountains in the world is definitely an accomplishment to brag about well into senility. Although it’ll likely cost upwards of a year’s salary ($25,000 to $60,000), the climb itself is priceless because it will teach you so much about yourself. Of course, you can’t just head out there and climb it; you need to practice and make sure you’re in good health first. The best time to go is in May, as the weather is its least brutal then.
