While some of us win the "looks" lottery when it comes to our face and body, we sometimes lose big-time when it comes to our teeth. That is the case with singer Jewel, who is content and comfortable with the fact that her teeth look like stalactites. So here's to you who refuse to get braces and bear the teeth God gave you.

Jewel's teeth would require so much reconstruction that an operation would significantly transform her pronunciation of words. Jewel is so beautiful & talented that her "flawed" teeth are easily overlooked, and even enhance her attractiveness.
i love that she has "bad" teeth. All celebrities look the same, cause they've paid to look perfect. she stands out.
Her teeth do not make her any less beautiful. I agree, they enhance her beauty in fact.
I respectfully disagree with the previous posters. Jewel looks like some lower classed refugee from Apalachia with those teeth. On TV it looks like she is missing one on the right side. I think it would enhance her image if she would take the time to remedy this.
I like her down to Earth just as she is and I'm a guy...
you go gurl !!!!
oops! I mean...Makes me feel better.
AH! Society is too obsessed with human perfection! Why must we shun the flaws we're born with? I've crooked teeth very identical to jewel's. They've also contributed to my low self-esteem since I was a kid. But I've learned to accept it and not let it ruin me. Also, the cost of dental work is too costly for me and I don't want to endure the years of hassle that come along with braces. So acceptance is the cheaper/hassle-free route. I've realized I really shouldn't care what others think. I admire Jewel for making that same decision, especially with being in the spotlights for everyone to see. She's proof that you can be beautiful and have a crooked smile too. That really takes a lot of guts! Makes me feel better.
I think Jewel has just recently fixed her teeth. Check out her latest video interview:

She looks much, much nicer with her new teeth.
Nobody is "born" with bad teeth, it's a result of malnutrition in terms of essential minerals. Flaws like this aren't natural, they're medical conditions which should be fixed-- unless she actually LIKES looking like a darned jack o'lantern. I'm not going to award her points for it.
My teeth were flawed like that - not quite as bad as Jewel's but in the same ballpark. You can get away with that when you're young, but trust me, it doesn't work anymore when you get older - it just looks really bad, especially on women.
So, I got braces in my 30's. It took 18 months, and it wasn't that bad, pain-wise or financially. One of the best things I ever did for myself.
